It might, I think, be desirable to bring all these different burial grounds by legislation under some general regulations, if none should be found to wish at present: And I would recommend that the Ceylon Ordinance be forwarded to the Honourable the Attorney General and called upon for a report as to its applicability to this Colony, and the necessity for legislation.
As regards the desire expressed by the Military Authorities for the use of a new cemetery, I would suggest that it be reserved for Naval and Military purposes. And that if the Naval and Military Authorities are prepared to undertake the expense of fencing and maintaining the new cemetery, the Government will agree to conform to such general regulations as may be laid down.
